Dentistry

The definition of dentistry is a broad one. To put it in simple terms; dentistry is the care, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, jaws, mouth and associated structures.

Dentistry can be filling cavities, whitening teeth, fitting braces or dentures, as well as any number of cosmetic procedures, which are sometimes difficult to get insurance companies to pay for.

Dentistry Begins at Home

All individuals should have a proper oral hygiene procedure in place. Dental health is important, and if you don't take proper care of your teeth through proper brushing and flossing, you could be setting yourself up for more elaborate dentistry procedures in the future.

Good oral hygiene includes, brushing and flossing on a regular basis as well as frequent visits to the dentist to make sure that everything is going well, and for those occasional dental checkups.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are sometimes used in place of dentures or other types of false teeth. The reason for dental implants is both convenience, and functionality. What most people don't know, is that the loss of teeth can also result in the loss of bone material in the jaw. If this happens, it may not be possible to fix your bite at all, since not even dentures will adhere to your jaw.

Teeth Bleaching (Teeth Whitening)

Teeth bleaching, also known as teeth whitening, is one of the few dentistry procedures that you can perform at home. What's more, the dentists procedures most likely won't be much better, or different, than the ones that you can buy yourself. It is important to get the teeth whitening products that work however. Not all teeth whitening products are created equally.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a broad category that fits all kinds of procedures. Cosmetic dentistry includes restructuring of teeth either through braces or other methods like reconstructive surgery.
