How to Find Dentists to Review

Normally you need to look no further than your local yellow pages to find a dentist.  Of course, how do you know if the dentist is a “good dentist”?

First, you must determine if the dentist is an active member of the ADA (American Dental Association).  At the American Dental Association website you will be able to look up all types of dental professionals from practicing dentists, to research students.  The best thing about using the American Dental Association website, is that you get a comprehensive listing of all dentists in your area that you would ever consider visiting.  As a side-note; any dentist that you are considering should be looked up on the ADA website as well as your state dental board, this insures that the dentist in question is at least in good standing with the important organizations..

Typically an “active member” (on the ADA site) is what most people will be looking for.  By active member, the American Dental Association is saying that the dentist in question is a, “U.S. licensed dentist in active practice or serving as a member of the faculty of a dental school or as a dental administrator or consultant.”

Ask Your Friends, Family, and Coworkers about Dentists You are Considering

Once you’ve located some potential candidates, ask around about them.  If you ask enough people you are sure to find several that know of the dentist in question both indirectly, and personally.  Keep in mind however; you’re bound to run into both good reviews and bad reviews of any dentist.

Dentists by the very nature of their profession are in a field where the definition of good, great, and bad is exceptionally interpretive, and emotionally driven.  That is to say; what I think is good and what you think is good are most likely, two very different things.  Weigh the reviews that your friends and acquaintances give you for any dentist, interview the dentist, and then make up your own mind.

Next, you need to schedule an interview with the dentist and ask them the questions in the, questions to ask your dentist section.
