Tips to Whiten Teeth

Avoid known stain causing agents.

  • Smoking
  • Coffee, dark sodas, and especially tea
  • Excessive fluoride

If you just can not give up your coffee or cigarettes, then make certain that you brush often.  You may need to brush even more than three times a day if you routinely drink stain causing drinks or smoke.

Brush and floss regularly, you can use normal toothpaste or tooth whitening toothpaste.  If you do use a tooth whitening toothpaste you may be able to see results a little faster, although I doubt it.  Teeth whitening toothpastes definitely won’t hurt, but there is no indication that they really help either.

Start a stain fighting regimen using an “at home” teeth whitening product.  It should take no more than 10 days to get your teeth significantly whiter.  Once you’ve achieved your desired shade, simply reapply the treatment once every month, or every other month and you will always have white teeth.

At the very least, you need to reapply your teeth whitening product once a year.  In most cases, your teeth will remain unstained for about a year.  If you apply the teeth whitening product every other month, however, not only do your teeth stay whiter longer, there’s a good chance that they will continue to lighten, although to a lesser degree.
